DeleteRegarding Lavínia Vlasak: I thought Slavic last names always added an 'Ova' ending when applied to females. So shouldn't her full name be Lávinia Vlasakova?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that maybe this tradition was discontinued in the new world as immigrants were assimilated, and in certain cases even letters were replaced, like the V for a W: a first generation Lisa Kudrova turns to a second generation Lisa Kudrow.

Much like Italian and Iberian women it's not a good idea to tell a Slavic girl to stop shaving ( yes, I know the phrase is gender faulty but I wanted to point this out as a public service).
